Maizal Munif is a Web programming, software engineering and development applications professional who excels in code creation and Microsoft Windows multi-tier team projects.  He has a B.Sc in Computer Science from UBC and has expertise in many programming languages and site development tools. He also manages and designs databases, tests systems and optimizes websites.  He currently is the Web Applications Developer for the Beeline Web company in Lake Country, specializing in search engine marketing for high-quality student enrollment leads.

He also has a keen sense of marketing solutions, consumer trends, and is passionate about raising environmental awareness and promoting green business.  A few years ago, Maizal founded Escape, an online resource for residents of Kelowna who are becoming environmentally conscious and are looking for information on the eco-options that are available throughout the city. The project features a blog promoting local green news, products and solutions along with tips for eco-friendly living. Website visitors can browse for specific topics and ask questions about local environmental issues, and there's also a sustainable businesses directory that lists local companies that are identified as being green.

With his experience in developing the local Escape Pollution site, Maizal will play an important role in the online development of Avalon's Ethical Marketplace and Showcase, which will provide comprehensive green criteria, ethical brand certification and marketing opportunities for leading businesses and organizations worldwide.  He is also assisting us with our website search engine positioning, the development of the Avalon World Cafe membership forum, and our social media network.

When he is not busy with his work and family, Maizal enjoys sports like volleyball, soccer and other athletic pursuits.  Maizal is originally from the island of Fiji, and supports Avalon's efforts to build multicultural understanding and community.
